Despite being a cold place, the Antarctic Polar Desert in Antarctica is known as the largest desert in the world. It receives very little rain, less than 50 millimeters (2 inches) of rain per year. It is also known as the driest continent on Earth. The Sahara Desert in Africa is the second largest desert in the world. It receives more than 200 millimeters (8 inches) of rain per year. Comparing the Sahara Desert and the Antarctic Polar Desert, the Sahara Desert receives more rain than the Antarctic Polar Desert.
